“Stop dreaming, girl ! Get a job in a call centre.”
That was the advice from the careers councillor at Samantha’s school in Ringwood in Dorset. She ignored it completely and since beginning her training in 2013 Samantha has gone from strength to strength.
In her one-woman shows, Samantha performs in a dizzyingly wide range of styles. She delivers Broadway belters, intimate a cappella, dark comedy, insanely fast patter songs, moving vintage ballads … and even a few arias – and all to a very high standard. Who else can do that? … and she’s still only 25!
As Richard Sidaway (former West End lead in Phantom Of The Opera) said, she’s “Sassy … energetic … brilliant !”
“Samantha was evidently born to sing Cabaret. Her vocal range is remarkable… Perfection.” Paul Vale, Journalist – The Stage, Edinburgh Fringe 2015
She just keeps getting better
Never content with what she has achieved so far, Samantha keeps adding to her abilities … and her shows just get more and more varied.
For instance, her 2015 CD “Samantha’s Backstage Cabaret” has 15 tracks in nine different vocal styles and now she also has a CD in the style of Vera Lynn.
Not a rising star but a shooting star?
In 2014, her first year as a professional singer, Samantha was performing her show Samantha Sings The Shows across Dorset and was very well received (“Effervescent”, Southern Daily Echo).
In 2015 she took her cabaret show Backstage Cabaret to London and then to The Edinburgh Festival Fringe where she achieved an average audience of 80% capacity and was reviewed by prestigious The Stage newspaper who said ” Perfection. Her vocal range is remarkable”.
In 2016 Samantha took time off to organise the Shaftesbury Fringe arts festival which was a resounding success in its first year with 93 shows at 32 venues. She is joint President of Shaftesbury Fringe 2017. She also performed across the UK and at The Groucho Club in London.
2017 saw Samantha performing a New Year concert in Japan (including an a cappella version of Feed The Birds in Japanese) and will see her taking the title role in The Vera Lynn Story for it’s UK tour at venues such as the Kings Theatre in Portsmouth, The Guildhall Theatre in Derby and the Theatre Royal in Windsor (amongst others). Dame Vera herself described Samantha as “Clearly very talented.”
Samantha has a classical soprano voice with a good alto range and wide break. She can sing full-voice from D3 to E6.
She trains privately with voice and acting coaches and is available for :
